Indian children clothes-High on the Ramp!

Selection of anything whether it is a product, a path or a person, always poses dilemma. And Indian children clothes are no exception.Dresses for girls are a sight!

A wide variety of clothes  for kids are available in the market for babies, kids and teenagers. A surfeit of designs, colors, materials are on display with a wide range of price tags. But experience shows that quality is not commensurate with price displayed. The clothes shrink after a wash, lose color and accessories like buttons, zips, and elastics become loose and so on.

The usual process of haggling on the price is rampant. All these make buying children clothes a hassle, for average Indian.

However, ease of wear and comfort after wearing should be of paramount consideration. One should not be carried away by the label of a big brand name. If material is not mentioned, please check it out with the seller or someone who is in the know. Softness and durability should be the main considerations. Check the ease of operation of buttons, zips, elastics and such other items. This is all the more important in the case of baby clothes and dress for boys.

If there is a good label on the clothes, method of washing would have been mentioned. If not, it is always safe to do a hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild soap or detergent. Once the initial wash out of the color is over, then only a machine wash should be attempted. Even then, use a standard detergent and not any fancy one. There are a number of “miracle” powders or chemicals advertised in the media and available in the market. These may tried out cautiously and in a phased manner.

Once washed, clothes should be properly ironed (if required) and folded or hung as needed. Above all you love your children when they are dressed colorfully and season wise.
