Many of them fear that veg food will not supply enough
vitamins and minerals needed for our body. This is not true, If you are having
well balanced food consisting whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, then you
are eating healthiest food on the earth.
Protein in take
We get plenty of protein in vegetarian food. Men need 55 grams and women
need 45 grams. Tofu ,lentils, nuts, seeds and brown rice are the high source of protein.
Calcium
Calcium is needed in much quantity
for the kids as they exercise a lot. So bones have to be very strong. There are
many things rich in calcium like spinach, seeds, almonds, carrots and soy milk.
When you drink soy milk you need to stir it nicely, because calcium gets
settled down to the bottom.
Iron
A recent statistics shows the iron level in veg was higher than those of non
vegetarians! It shows clearly that vegetarian food also is rich in vitamins and
minerals. For enhancing the iron quantity in your body you need to eat lentils,
spinach, soy and chickpeas.
Usually both veg and non veg people have got enough supplement of B12.
Things to know
Our body is wonderful machine. It has the facility of
storing B12 for years.
Nutritional yeast is a great source and very tasty also.
If you are a heavy smoker you need extra supply of B12.
Pregnant women need extra B12.So they need to take
regularly. Remember eating healthy vegetarian food is the only way to long term
or short term health. As a vegetarian you are on the lower side of cholesterol,
heart diseases and high blood pressure. Cooking may be difficult but the result
is just wonderful!
